A: Off The Record
Fred: I... see your point, Madame. I will put them under observation, and recall my unit from the field so—
Songween: Er, Fred— I think it would be best if you didn't resume your duties as my Adjutant for the time being.
Fred: What? Why?!
Songween: I'm not supposed to take sides in the duel. And neither is my Adjutant. You wouldn't be able to have any contact with the combatants.
Songween: So I think you might want to stay on leave for a little while longer... say, a week or so...
Fred: That may be advisable, yes.
Songween: And if, during that time, you were able to lend your expertise to a certain person... it may be of benefit to your future, so to say.
Fred: I understand, Madame.
Songween: Strictly off the record.
Fred: Of course, Madame.
B: It Needs No Explanation
Songween: After all— you are the finest swordsman in the country, if not the whole empire.
Fred: My blushes, Madame.
Songween: I trust you to make certain she has a good showing. Rackenroon depends on you. Lieutenant, I'm giving you the keys to my great-granddaughter. Drive her hard, make sure she gets nicely detailed, and bring her back with a full tank.
Fred: I don't even want to begin to speculate upon the meaning of that metaphor, Madame.
Songween: You want me to explain it to you?
Fred: No... no, I don't, thank you.
