Kathy: I'm sorry about your problems, but what am I supposed to do? I don't know how to relate to you. When I try to be nice to you, you shut me out. I feel like you don't want anything to do with me! I mean, you've hardly even looked at me all the time we've been talking!
Fred: I... apologise for my apparent lack of warmth. I have found it... expedient... to shut off my emotions to protect myself. It's not you, not directly— I've always known that I was to marry the Heir, but until last night, I never realized... what that actually... m-meant...

Fred: ...yes...
B: Notoriously Difficult
Kathy: You, um... you said that... you know... is "notoriously difficult." Um... exactly how difficult are we talking, here?
Fred (thinking): Oh, NO—!
Fred: Ma'am, I would prefer not to discuss this subject now—!
Kathy: Okay! Sorry! I didn't mean to embarrass you!
Kathy: ...buuuut are we talkin' really painful, or what?
Fred: MA'AM! PLEASE!
