A: A Living Legend
Fred (telling story): "Your great-grandmother is legendary. Years ago, she killed the King of the Lions with her bare hands.
Fred (telling story): "The story goes that the King Iarbas was trying to overthrow the rule of the hyenas. Neither side could prevail.
Fred (telling story): "Finally, Duchess Songween challenged him to a duel, winner take all.
Fred (telling story): "With his superior size, it seemed certain that Iarbas would win, but she threw some sand in his face, blinding him, then got her teeth into his throat and hung on until she had killed him.
Fred (telling story): "She took the lion's own sword and decapitated him, displaying his head to his people— then she drove all the lions out of Rackenroon, whether they had sided with Iarbas, or not. Lions have been forbidden to enter Rackenroon ever since."
B: The Ballad Of Songween
(Sung to the tune of The Ballad of Davy Crockett)
Born in a vol-ca-no in Rackenroon,
Learned how to hunt by the light of the moon,
Raised in the woods so she knew every tree,
Kilt her a lion when she was thirty-three —
Songween, she's our Duchess
Queen of the wild frontier!
Now in twenty-thirteen the lions uprose
Adding rebellion to our country's woes,
But fightin' with lions is something she knows
So she shoulders her spear and off she goes!
Songween, she's our Duchess
The sh'yena who knows no fear!
The countess of Grrsn is her ger-er-al,
Everyone knows they're the bestest of pals,
Those tawny varmints our ladies will tame,
Cuz they've got the spears with the sure-fire aim!
Songween, she's our Duchess
Trackin' the rebels down!
Single-handed silenced her the lion's roar,
The tawny brutes were whipped and peace was in store,
And while she was handling this risky chore
She made herself a legend for evermore!
Songween, she's our Duchess
She's gonna give us free beer!
