Horn: You could always call for a car to—
Fred: NO! We must stick to The Plan! She must complete the tests to prove she can be a worthy Duchess!
Fred: Er, Horn... don't mention this to the girls, but... I think I know why everything's been going wrong. THEY must have found out about The Plan, and are paying people to attack us.
Horn: I thought that was all part of "The Plan."
Fred: No. The Plan was to test her reactions to threats, and to see how she copes with difficulties. These people are playing for keeps.
B: She's Got A BIG Mouth
Fred: You know She can't keep Her mouth shut... She probably let it slip— or even gloated— about finding a new Heir... or else they figured it out for themselves when She dispatched you to Kilbasa with a whole caravan of zebras and enough gear to keep a Maharani happy.
Horn: I suppose that wasn't very bright on Her part. But the Generals were out of town when—
Fred: They have many spies. And they won't quit until they've succeeded.
Fred: Whatever we do, we must get the girls safely to Kiyanti— even if it means our lives! If one or the other of the Grrsns doesn't become Duchess, this world won't be worth living in, anyway!
C: Hyena Day Extra
Caption: April 27 is "Hyena Day." Take a hyena to lunch. And regret it for the rest of the year.
