A: The Spoiler
Kathy: Confusing?
Fred: Well, yes... I never expected to be attracted to my mate, so I spent my life putting all thoughts of romance out of my mind...
Fred: I assumed that my training would prepare me to disassociate myself from any thoughts of sentimentality, rendering our union little more than a business arrangement—
Kathy: I'm sorry I came along and spoiled your plans.
Fred: That was sarcasm, wasn't it?
B: Try And Try Again
Fred: I should like to feel more... comfortable with you... before we attempt to engage in anything so... personal. Besides— if it did not go... well... it could color our relations for the rest of our lives.
Kathy: That's a possibility, but we could also KEEP working at it until we got it right.
Fred: You certainly make a compelling argument, Ma'am.
C: A Helping Hand
Kathy: Look, Louie... I know you've been brought up thinking you were going to be a slave or something, but I want us to be equals, mutually supportive of each other.
Kathy: I don't want to spend my life telling you to do stuff or ordering you around— Oh, Dammit! I can't get up this stupid embankment! Gimme a boost, wouldja?
Fred: —what?
Kathy: My pack's too heavy— put your paws on my butt and give me a boost!
Fred: Y-yes, Ma'am! R-right away, Ma'am!
