A: Culture Hero
Kathy: So who's this "Prince Ku Pakai?"
Fred: I'm surprised you've never heard of him. He's a Crocutan culture hero. His name means "To Fly." He's also called "He Who Brings Fire From Heaven."
Fred: He stole fire from the Sun by making himself wings out of feathers. But the wings caught aflame, and the embers burnt holes in his fur. The myth explains how hyenas got their spots.
Kathy: What about... the other thing? Any explanation for that—?
Fred: Where do you think he hid the torch?
B: Nobody Wants Her
Fred: Ku Pakai became the God of Fire and Volcanoes back when we still believed in the supernatural. Nowadays he's sort of an heroic role-model for boys— in comic books and so forth.
Kathy: Volcano god? So he's the guy they want to sacrifice Jinjur to...?
Fred: That could be why the volcano hasn't erupted in a while...
