Fred (thinking): Ah, she's talking about the weather! Whew! OK, maybe I can do this! Pretend she's the Duchess... short, on-topic answers... curt, yet courteous...
Fred: I'm used to it, Ma'am.
Kathy: You're sweating like a horse! Is it always this hot here?
Fred: No. In the summer it's worse.
